Praying in the Wait
Hi friends. Today I have a post featured on The M.O.M. Initiative titled Let Dad be Dad. If you are a mom, check it out.
Today I want to pray for you all as you wait. God often brings us into waiting times.
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31
Dear Father God,
You are holy, holy, holy, omnipotent, omniscient, and You came to die for us. Your glories are seen in the sunrise and sunset, in the changing of the seasons, and in the starry host. You hold this universe together and You care about all of us – each reader of this blog is Your handiwork and bears Your image. Father there are times You have us in seasons of waiting. Waiting is difficult, it sears our hearts, and doubts cloud our view of You. As we wait we ache. Help us to cling to You as we wrestle through this waiting time. Help us to see Your hand in the wait. Use this time to draw us near to You, to whisper who You are to us, and to strengthen our faith. Thank You that when we wait for You, You give us strength so we can soar, run, and walk. In the wait help us to remember You are “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20) Remind us that You have good plans for us. Give us peace that passes understanding as we wait and trust You.

Thanks for this. The silence in a time of waiting (that Psalm 88 feeling some go through) is extra hard when we are being crushed by consequences from long ago.
I’ve been wondering, Angela, about what Scriptures will resonate with those who wrestle silently with such things day and night? Paul, as Saul, was a very real terror to the church, yet in time found a way to serve God in spirit and truth and live victoriously in Christ. Can’t have been easy sometimes.
There’s complete forgiveness for sin and all our thoughtless and hurtful mistakes, but overbearing consequences can impact God’s people for decades, even though they are new creations in Christ. There are times when the discerning love of Christ needs to abound.

Consequences of our sin can be truly crushing and we can carry around the weight of guilt and the burden of our mistakes. I always look to the truth.
1. Romans 8:1-2 “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set me free from the law of sin and death.”
2. The truth does not change regardless of how we feel. In Ps 88 the psalmist feels like he is in the pit and the feelings do not change, but the truth is Ps 40:2, “He [God] brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay,And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.”
3. It won’t be easy because the enemy of our souls comes to accuse us and since he has no sway with the Judge, he tries us in our minds. Remember when God sees you, He sees the righteousness of Christ.

Years ago God changed my middle name to Isaac. He was a child of promise, he had been waited for and he became laughter for his parents! Thanks so much for this post.
