Almost Done: Praying Continually Day 29

Today is day 29 of my praying continually challenge. Whew, it has been a challenge.

How did it go for you?

Here are a few lessons I have learned about my prayer life.

1. My prayer life is not rich enough. I need to pray more throughout the day, but I also need to set aside more dedicated time to pray.

2. I think an awful lot about myself and not as much about God. I desperately need to keep Him central and not forget to pray for others. I discovered when I think about others and pray for them, I often am only praying for myself. I pray for what I want or what I think is best rather than what God wants.

3. Prayer is also listening to God and I’m not good at that. I pray God helps me listen more.

4. God blesses us as we draw closer to Him. Through prayer the two teaching talks I did at VBS were well received. Nearly 30 children responded in some way to the messages. Close to 10 or so were first time professions of faith. God moves when we empty ourselves of us and draw near to Him.

What have you learned?

Angela is a stumbling woman in need of God’s scandalous grace. Through faith in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, she bears the name Christian. She speaks and writes to make much of this God, His only Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who lives in her. She graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and is a Registered Nurse. She also obtained her Masters of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies through Knox Theological Seminary.

Simple, but powerful thoughts. If only we really grasped the power of prayer. God is great!

Yes Holly…and if only we grasped who it is we are praying to…wouldn’t that change things?
