Fatigue and Blessings

| |

I turned over and hit snooze on my alarm.

I couldn’t keep my eyes open and nine minutes later the alarm woke me up again.

So tired. And it rolls like ocean waves under the surface.

I ride the waves in my dreams. I hold tight to God as I wake and I am tired.

Tired physically. Tired emotionally. Tired…

And the fatigue clouds the truth.

The truth that no matter what circumstances appear to be, God has my best planned.

There is victory even in what looks like defeat.

The longing for justice and peace reminds me that God made me for eternity. This earth is not my home.

Fatigue obscures my sight. I can’t see the good things God gives here – friends, family, fun, food….

My blessings even become curses as fatigue warps my perspective.

And perhaps the myopia of fatigue is why Jesus wants us to come to Him when we are weary. (Matthew 11:28-30)

He will give us rest and in His rest we find gratitude and joy and our eyesight is fixed on Him.

And let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

We will reap if we don’t grow weary and when we are weary if we come to Him we will find rest.

And God is good to bring us rest and a harvest at the right time.

How do you balance rest and service?
