Titus 2:11-14

Pondering Titus 2:11-14 today.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

1. God's grace brings salvation. Praise God I don't have to earn it.

2. God's grace teaches me to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions. Grace doesn't teach me to take it for granted and continue to sin. It teaches me to live for God.

3. God's grace teaches me to live a self-controlled, upright, and godly life. I can't do it myself and it is an ongoing process. God's grace will never be done teaching me to live for God. I am glad I am never beyond His reach nor is His grace ever done with me.

4. God's grace teaches me to live this way for this present age, but I am hopefully waiting for Jesus to come again. I have a hope of heaven.

5. Then there is Jesus whom I can never praise enough for His sacrifice for my redemption. Not only did He redeem me for heaven, but from wickedness in order to purify me so I can be a person of His very own. Oh that I would be eager to do what is good.

Father God help me to learn the lessons Your grace is teaching me. May I live a self-controlled, upright, and godly life for Your glory and honor. Thank You that Your grace teaches me. Help me to live a life of grace so others will come to know Your grace too. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
