Flee Sexual Immorality

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18

This Wednesday night I have the privilege and responsibility (along with our children’s pastor) to talk to fifth and sixth graders about purity–how to flee sexual immorality in a society that is sexually charged. We will discuss how to flee images, thoughts, giving your heart away, and much more. We do this because we love God and want to honor Him in all we say and do. However God often has logical reasons for what He calls us to do as well.

I would love your thoughts about fleeing sexual immorality.

Why do you think God calls us to flee sexual immorality?

What do you wish you knew as a preteen about purity, guy-girl relationships?

What sorts of boundaries have you set for your children about dating and purity?

As a single adult, what would you tell preteens about purity and dating?

What do you think?

  1. A note from someone who did NOT flee from sexual immorality as a teen…

The best gift you can give yourself (and your future spouse) is to have no one to compare them to in your mind.

After thirteen years together, my husband and I both still struggle with memories popping up and comparisons creeping in. We have to work hard to turn away from those thoughts and memories and keep our hearts, minds, and eyes focussed only on each other. Marriage is hard work, period. Having past sexual partners makes it ten times harder.

  2. I am a youth and I’m very fastidious about purity and all about staying pure. A few years ago, I made a decision and recently confirmed it to God to stay pure until marriage.

I must confess, it has not been easy walking this purity road. I’m a human and the temptation becomes so strong sometimes. But thanks to God who had said that no temptation shall befall us except that which is common to man. And in the midst of the temptation shall He provide a way of escape (1 Cor 10:13).

As part of my commitment to purity, I have set up a blog and have been sharing on why and how to stay pure until marriage. I even have some posts on the blog that answer some of the purity questions in this post.

    1. For your question about fleeing from sexual immorality, please check  http://theyouthforjesus.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-win-battle-against-temptations.html

    2. And this post also deals with why God calls us to sexual purity:  http://theyouthforjesus.blogspot.com/2011/10/reminder-sex-is-to-be-reserved-for.html

    3. Finally, for anything else about purity you may refer to our complete purity guide for all christians:  http://theyouthforjesus.blogspot.com/2011/10/purity-guide-for-all-christians.html

Next week, I will be doing a post about purity scriptures. It will be a complete list of scriptures on why and how to stay pure until marriage. Your comments will be much appreciated on any of the posts above. God bless you!

    Sincerely,
    Bob Godwyll.
